FAQs

The sensation of acupuncture varies from person to person. While many people feel little to no discomfort, others may experience a brief prick or a mild tingling sensation when the needles are inserted. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin—much finer than those used for injections—which helps to significantly reduce any potential discomfort.
Skilled acupuncturists are trained to ensure your treatment is as comfortable as possible. It’s important to communicate openly during your session, if you feel any discomfort or pain, let me know so I can adjust the needles or my technique to ensure your comfort.
For many, acupuncture is a deeply relaxing and therapeutic experience, often leaving them with a sense of calm and well-being.

Yes, acupuncture is generally considered to be a safe and effective treatment when performed by a qualified practitioner. As an Ahpra-registered acupuncturist, I adhere to strict safety and hygiene protocols, including using single-use, sterile needles.

Yes, absolutely! This first thing I would suggest is to book in for a Toyohari treatment, this is a very gentle Japanese style of acupuncture that uses classical non-insertive tools to gently tap, press or stroke acupuncture points to stimulate a healing response in the body. Toyohari treatments may include the use of supportive techniques such as moxibustion and cupping.
Alternatively, you can book a herbal consultation. During this session, we’ll discuss your health concerns, history, and goals. Based on this, I’ll create a herbal prescription tailored to your needs and provide diet and lifestyle recommendations to support you on your health journey.

I recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arms, legs, and abdomen. However, I can work with whatever clothing you’re wearing. If you’re in tight-fitting pants, leggings, or tights, you may need to remove them to allow access to points on the legs.
For specific areas of the body that need to be treated, I will provide towels or blankets to ensure your comfort and privacy. Your comfort and safety are my priority, so if there are any areas of your body you prefer not to expose or have touched, please let me know, and I will adjust the treatment accordingly.

Your session will begin with a consultation where we have an in depth discussion on your health concerns, medical history, and goals. Diagnosis often includes observing your tongue, gently palpating the meridians and abdomen, and taking your wrist pulse. Based on these findings, I’ll create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
During treatment, I may use acupuncture or non-insertive techniques, monitoring subtle changes in your wrist pulse to ensure desired results are achieved. Depending on your condition, I may also incorporate supportive techniques such as moxibustion, cupping, or guasha.
Most sessions are deeply relaxing, and many people leave feeling calm, refreshed, and balanced.

The number of sessions needed varies depending on your condition and overall health. While some people feel improvement after just one or two treatments, chronic or complex conditions may require a series of sessions to achieve lasting results. During your initial consultation, we can discuss a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
